President Joko Widodo said he felt happy because the presidential candidate (candidate) from PDIP extension it comes from the internal cadres.
This was conveyed by Jokowi after hearing the political speech of his party chairman, Megawati Soekarnoputri, at the party’s 50th anniversary event (HUT) at JI-Expo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta on Tuesday (10/1).
“I am very pleased that the general chairman Ms. Megawati Soekarnoputri said that the candidate was from her own cadre,” Jokowi said.
He also praised Mega’s careful attitude in announcing the presidential candidate’s name. According to him, Mega was quite calm and was not in a hurry like the others.
Jokowi said Mega was firm enough not to rush to announce the presidential candidate, even though he already had his name in his pocket. He also reminded all cadres to remain patient until Mega makes an official announcement when the time is right.
“Pressed and pressed anywhere it didn’t falter even though your name was already in your pocket, Ms Mega. We are all waiting patiently,” said Jokowi.
Mega did not announce the name of the PDIP presidential candidate on that occasion. However, he had given a signal asking his party cadres to meet again on June 2 in Gelora Bung Karno.
Mega realizes many parties are waiting for a name who will run for the 2024 presidential election. However, she admits she’s not tempted to announce the current presidential candidate, even if she already has a name.
According to him, the commemoration of 50 years of the Pdip this time was only a ceremony within his party. He admitted missing the face-to-face meeting with the cadres after nearly three years of not seeing each other due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Yes, after that, it was me, there was applause, I wanted to be tempted to announce it,” Mega said, joking.
