The president of the Provincial Judo Association (APJ) of Bengo, Herasmo Salvador, told this newspaper yesterday that he is concerned about the state of combat in the lands of alligator bangão.
Herasmo Salvador made it known that the lack of support has put the future of the sport at risk, despite the significant increase in the number of schools and practitioners.
“Judo is doing well in terms of practitioners, but in material terms and support from the local business community, it is very far from what the Provincial Association outlined for the 2020/2024 Olympic quadrennium”, he explained.
The president of APJ said that the association needs a lot of support, because they have faced many difficulties in moving athletes from the province to compete in other parts of the country, such as difficulties in finding places to practice the modality, taking into account that they rely solely and exclusively on the federation support.
Herasmo Salvador underlined that the athletes have been improving day after day, as this year Bengo province held provincial championships in the categories of cadets, juniors and seniors for the first time.
The director assured that the Association will continue to work to encourage and discover new practitioners.
