In life, Amandine, Carmen and Marine are nurses in Angers … the rest of the time, they are cosplayers. Since her sewing machine has let her go, Amandine orders her costumes. She fell back on Momo from My Heros Academy last minute for this weekend: “cosplay is that, we buy, we manufacture … we do with the means at hand. The important thing is passion “.

A passion that pushes these geeks to find each other during conventions across France. Jessy K Copslay aka Christophe, a native of Nantes, is today the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. “I am a completely different character”, confides the man wearing a voluminous red, black and yellow dress. “And that’s what I love about cosplay, each new character we embody brings out a part of us. We have lots of fun, until we take off the whole costume “.

Costumes in several pieces, which represent colossal work … one year drawing and tailoring for 100 faces cosplay, a graduate of Bordeaux philosophy who won the competition for this 3rd edition thanks to his Mad Hatter. “For me it was the opportunity to make creations. I didn’t know what cosplay was but I felt a big void artistically speaking “, says the 23-year-old cosplayer. “This discipline allowed me to produce a lot, because it’s so vast that one inevitably finds one’s happiness“.
Time, and a financial investment with costumes that are sometimes worth several thousand euros… A real profession from which cosplayers rarely manage to make a living. But who makes them “to grow” or allows them to escape between enthusiasts.
