The scientific method. This is a radio play in honor of Josef Škvorecký, in which his voice can be heard. “I’m a radio listener and I really like doing radio work.” What kind of musical education does he have? What instruments does he play? Does he have his own band? What music does he play before bed? How and when did he get into acting? And why did he decide to teach at DAMU?

“My character is ambitious and he’s such a moula. Sometimes he messes up, but he makes up for it with speed and commitment. Blueberry played by Ivan Trojan is a thoughtful guy who is shy around women. It’s a wonderful mix and I enjoyed it,” he explains about the filming of the Scientific Method.
“Radio work is my favorite and I will never turn it down. It’s tremendously interesting. But it’s worse with listening thanks to my profession. Unfortunately, I don’t drive much enough to be able to listen for two hours,” regrets the actor, musician and DJ.
As a musician, how does he perceive the accompanying music for plays and productions? “That’s simple. Either it will work or it won’t,” laughs Filip Kaňkovský|photo: Elena Horálková, Czech Radio
He fondly remembers the first radio recording. “This took place with the director Natália Deáková, the amazing Danielová Kolářová and the no less amazing Tereza Hofová. It was a very difficult text and it was a big school. Natálie entrusted me with the title role, even though I had no experience with a radio microphone,” concludes actor Filip Kaňkovský in Close Encounters.
