[마이데일리 = 김진성 기자] “The first thing is to be able to become friends quickly and not to show off.”
LG Twins’ 2025 season captain Park Hae-min (34) wholeheartedly welcomed Jang Hyun-sik (29), who joined as a free agent, ahead of the club event ‘Love Giving Day’ held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 16th. He said that Jang Hyun-sik was a good pitcher during his time with the KIA Tigers and that it was nice to be on the same team.

Like Jang Hyun-sik, Park Hae-min also came to LG as a free agent. He joined in the 2021-2022 market for 6.5 billion won over 4 years and was active for 3 years. Next year is the final season of the contract. Looking at Jang Hyun-sik, who is about to enter his first season at LG, he will think of his past, and as the new captain, he will want to help Jang Hyun-sik adapt to LG.
The culture and atmosphere of the 10 clubs are actually very similar. He is energetic and communicates well. However, there will be subtle differences as well. Haemin Park said, “He is a really good pitcher. “I came here because I was treated well, so the first thing to do is to adapt.”
Park Hae-min said, “I came here by transferring, but I was able to quickly integrate into this team because all the players helped me adapt. “I heard that Jang Hyun-sik is coming today, and I think the first thing is to be able to get to know the players quickly and not get out of hand.”
I hoped that existing LG players would help. Park Hae-min said, “He is a good player in terms of baseball skills and ability, and he has been treated accordingly, so the first thing is how quickly the players can help Jang Hyun-sik integrate into the team.”
Some players, including players called up to the Premier 12 such as Park Dong-won, Hong Chang-ki, and Yoo Young-chan, Choi Won-tae, who qualified as a free agent, and Ham Deok-ju, who is about to undergo surgery, were missing from the club event on this day. However, all pillars, including top executives Kim Hyun-soo and Oh Ji-hwan, attended.
Jang Hyun-sik said he could see the juniors coming from Seoul High School and was confident that they would have no problem adapting to the team. And ahead of the club event, I naturally exchanged greetings with LG players for the first time. Afterwards, at the event, he took the microphone and politely greeted the fans, wishing them all the best, drawing cheers.
But it wasn’t the end. At the end of the event, along with the rookies’ talent show, Jang Hyun-sik also took the microphone again. They sang Day6’s ‘Welcome to the Show’ and entertained the 1,000 fans gathered at the venue. Even during his KIA days, Hyunsik Jang garnered a lot of attention when a video of him singing a medley of Day6’s songs was posted on KIA’s YouTube channel Gya TV.
Jang Hyunsik clearly seems to like Day6. A team official looked at him happily and said, “The high notes are rising well.” In fact, Day6’s songs tend to have a lot of high notes, and Jang Hyunsik handled them well. It is never easy to sing well in front of fans you have met for the first time. However, Jang Hyun-sik showed his sincerity to LG fans through his song.

I think Jang Hyun-sik’s adaptation to LG will be no problem at all.
