‘I almost don’t dare say it, Gordon score is disappointing’

Tina Nijkamp was completely slaughtered in the premiere episode of Gordon’s real-life soap and therefore hardly dares to say it, but: “The viewing figures are disappointing.”

One thing is for sure: Gordon can’t blame a lack of media attention. The press has been talking about his new real-life soap on SBS 6 for weeks. Still, the first episode doesn’t provide a big surprise, ratings authority Tina Nijkamp reported this morning on her analysis channel. 461 thousand people watched the broadcast last night.

‘I almost don’t dare’

Tina tries to introduce it carefully, since everything is very sensitive with Gordon. She starts with the good scores of RTL 4’s Holland’s Got Talent (1.1 million viewers) and NPO 2’s Twee voor Twaalf (907 thousand).

Then she ends up at Goor. “Well. I almost don’t dare say it, but the score for the soap ‘Dit Ben Ik: Gordon’ is a bit disappointing, considering the enormous amount of publicity. Also because NPO 1 had a summer holiday program in the schedules instead of their big Friday night hit Flikken Rotterdam: Groeten vanaf de Camping (445 thousand).”

Not even half a million

How many people watched Goor? “This Is Me: Gordon has 461 thousand viewers. I expected a score between 575 thousand and 800 thousand viewers. In the commercial target group of 25 to 54 years old, it scores an OK 15.7 percent market share.”

“Gordon scores similarly to De Familie Gillis on that slot. They also started on Friday on April 5 (always Tuesday before that) and their first episode had 598 thousand viewers and a 16.5 percent market share. A bit higher though.”

Not brilliant

To prevent Gordon from shouting again that she always has to have him, Tina subtly points out what she said about Peter Gillis’ score at the time, namely: “Well. It’s not bad, it’s not brilliant. It doesn’t really amount to much in the total figures, that score of the Gillis family in Massa is Kassa on SBS 6.”

Does Tina think SBS 6 is satisfied with the Goor figures? All in all SBS 6 will not be dissatisfied, I think even satisfied (actually nothing ever scores on Fridays, except reality soaps) but secretly of course hoped for higher ratings given all the publicity and major promotional campaign.”

Remarkable

Tina presents the figures with the utmost caution, apparently to avoid offending Gordon further, but it is unclear why. She does absolutely nothing wrong, except presenting the viewing figures and expertly analyzing them. After all, she was the channel boss of SBS 6 for years.

Curiously enough, she then also shares a photo from the Amsterdam branch of Gordon’s coffee shop Blushing. “For me, after all this analysis of the viewing figures of this exciting Super Friday, it is also time for a cup of coffee and a piece of cake around the corner in Amsterdam, to start the weekend positively.”

Hopefully Tina is under no illusions…
