Hyundai will not get rid of compact hatchbacks in Europe. A new generation is coming – News

British car web Autocar has good news for customers who buy hatchbacks from South Korean automaker Hyundai. The executive director of the European representative of this company, Michael Cole, said in an interview that the company intends to keep its models such as the i10, i20 or i30 in Europe, and is even preparing their new versions.

Hyundai thus shows once again that it still believes in smaller models and their sports versions, even if the trend is often the opposite for other automakers, also due to the fear of emission standards that will make the development of these smaller cars with internal combustion engines more expensive. The second aspect is the fact that hatchbacks and smaller station wagons are replacing fashionable crossovers.

“We have the next generation for the i10, i20 and i30. What exactly they will bring, however, we cannot say at the moment. But we don’t want to lose any customers. We have to think about them, in terms of electrification. We have to have other models under electric power,” Cole said, hinting that Hyundai’s hatchbacks could offer an as-yet unspecified form of electrification in the next generation.
