For the first time, Disney opened its Imagineering department to an automobile manufacturer and introduced the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Disney 100 Platinum Concept.
The all-electric car features a number of nods to some of Disney’s most iconic characters and takes advantage of Hyundai’s creative lighting technology.
The concept, unveiled at the New York Auto Show, celebrates Disney’s 100th anniversary and features a three-circle wheel design that evokes the company’s best-known character, Mickey Mouse’s ears. Meanwhile, the body is painted a rather attractive shade of Gravity Gold Matte.
The real kicker of the exterior is the special light show. Taking advantage of the Ioniq 5’s front lighting display, the car displays a brilliant animation from Disney, in which a pixie dances on the front fascia before turning into fireworks in the middle.
Elsewhere, the car is fitted with Disney 100 badging on the exterior, the Disney 100 logo is embossed on the front seat headrests and floor mats.
The etched details on the moonroof also contain a hint of pixie dust, and the interior displays are Disney-themed. That means that upon entering the car, the driver is greeted by Disney music and the screen also shows the brilliant animation.
Although the concept will become a limited-edition car that will go on sale, details of the production version have not yet been shared, and the features listed above are specific to the show car, so some may not. come to production.
More details about the production version of the Ioniq 5 Disney 100 Platinum Concept will be shared later.
