Hyundai Stargazer Uses IVT Transmission, What’s the Difference with the Avanza-Xpander CVT?

CVT transmission has recently been widely used in a number of new cars in Indonesia. Cars in the Low MPV segment like the Toyota Avanza and Mitsubishi Xpander also recently carried this transmission.

The principle is the same. Both types of transmission use pulleys and belts instead of gears. The IVT transmission is an automatic transmission that uses two pulleys and a steel belt instead of gear. The use of IVT transmission is expected to improve fuel efficiency.

IVT transmission is also said to make vehicle movement smoother and more responsive than conventional automatic transmissions. On the other hand, the friction generated by the IVT transmission is also small. In the official Hyundai website, it is explained that the IVT gearshift system will work by providing a little movement.

IVT is also able to change ratios faster than conventional or even unlimited automatic transmissions. Not infrequently, IVT is also called the Infinite Variable Transmission.

This type of transmission works by modulating the pressure of the pulley system on the transmission, so it can adjust the pressure from the driver and the condition of the driver.

The pulley system used has a wide ratio, so it can be correlated with a wider operating ratio than other similar transmission work systems. This movement results in fuel efficiency.

Further on how the Intelligent Variable Transmission works, namely this transmission simulates gearshifts such as automatic transmissions and uses chain belt components. This chain belt is what distinguishes IVT from CVT in general, which uses a steel plate belt. Hyundai claims, this advantage also helps the car to be more fuel efficient.

When it comes to movement, the IVT transmission can change ratios more quickly than a traditional automatic transmission, thus allowing power to get to the wheels faster and for a smooth and responsive ride on the road.

Not to forget, the IVT transmission has also used a new shift control strategy technology to regulate vehicle acceleration. Thanks to this technology, the movement of the car is more responsive and safe while driving the vehicle.
