Edges, hook and dice are back. I don’t mean that the second part of the video game Minecraft would be released, but the fifth generation of the large SUV Hyundai Santa Fe, which was presented in full splendor.

The current Hyundai Santa Fe is still a stunner.
A few years ago, thanks to the design of Hyundai’s new models, we were able to realize that the once underrated car company took the reins of leadership and began to determine what is and is not trendy in the automotive world. However, the typical split headlights are gone on the fifth Sante Fe, replaced by geometric shapes.
The front lamps now carry the H motif (like Hyundai), the hood is raised, the fenders are pronounced and distinctive. Square masculinity just oozes from the car. In short, the South Koreans went the way of cubes and the letters H, the motif of which can be found all over the car.

We already know that the car will also use the H motif for the blinker.
Also, the side line of the model has a more boxy shape, rather typical for North American vehicles. It must be added that these shapes are particularly practical, as they provide the crew with much more space – both visually and in reality.
The first look at the rear will probably startle you and evoke memories of the SsangYong Rodius, whose low-set rear lights were more than distinctive. Hyundai also placed the lamps lower in the Sante Fe, which at first impression looks enormously unnatural. We will have to get used to this state of mind, similar to the arrival of the facelifted four-eyed Octavia.

Isn’t inspiration inspired by the beautiful Rodius?
However, thanks to the specific rear shape, the car promises three rows of seats, a giant trunk with a larger lid and more practical loading of things, which we are not surprised about given the design. In the back, you can simply transport both people and, after folding down the seats, work equipment, a dog shelter or the original Austin Mini.
You can also look forward to the H motifs inside, look at the built-in ventilation outlets that visually divide the premium upholstered dashboard. The information system display and instrument panel are united into a large screen, which is a trend today.

The interior is full of luxury, large displays and a wide central tunnel.
The steering wheel has kept the traditional round shape and fortunately it has not switched to sensor buttons (which we consider a big ergonomic transgression), which Volkswagen is moving away from and to which Peugeot is now coming, for example.
The central control panel is slightly slanted, solved by a combination of digital indicators and physical buttons. The automatic transmission selector has been moved to the right under the steering wheel, freeing up a lot of space on the central tunnel – two cup holders and two wireless mobile phone chargers can fit here, another storage area is one floor below.

The headliner is made of suede fabric, the floor mats and the rear walls of the backrests in the second and third rows are made of recycled plastic, while the protective surfaces and parts of the door panels are covered with synthetic leather.
The new Santa Fe has again swung a little higher and we will not be far from the truth if we call it luxurious. The big Hyundai also demonstrates an all-new design language heavily influenced by the North American market, however it is possible that it will at least partially be reflected in some European models. Time will tell.
The automaker will reveal more information about the Santa Fe in August 2023, in the form of an online video premiere. Follow Garáž.cz!
