The carmaker Hyundai revealed an interesting car in a somewhat discreet way. It is a remarkable concept that combines the history of the brand with the electrical future.

The South Korean company introduced the restomod of the first generation of the Pony model. This is extremely important for Hyundai, it is the first car of the brand that the carmaker has developed itself. And it was a success.
Due to the new model, in February 1974 the company hired several experts. One of them was George Turnbull, a former CEO of Austin Morris from the British Leyland Group. He asked six of his experts from Europe for help. The team included another designer, two specialists in bodywork and chassis, two production engineers and one test engineer.
The Pony was first introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1974. It was launched a year later. The car was nicknamed the “car for people” because it was designed for them. One of the most respected automotive designers of his time, Giorgetto Giugiaro, took care of the design of this rear-wheel drive model.

The Pony model was soon exported to Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Egypt. That was in 1976. In 1978, vehicles also began to be exported to Europe, more precisely to Belgium and the Netherlands, and soon to Greece. The car actually started the successful journey of the South Korean carmaker.
The basis of the rejuvenated variant was the real Pony with a three-door hatchback body. The team, led by interior designer Hak Soo Ha, completely dismantled the car and then put it back together in a more modern way.
The car got modern headlights, rear-view mirrors with built-in cameras or new wheels with a retro design. There are also some surprises inside. The interior looked very well overall, but the biggest attention is drawn to the new steering wheel and the new instrument panel, which excels in the unusual design of indicators and “alarm clocks”. Instead, there are character lamps, also known as digitrons.
Important information also applies to the drive. The creators removed the original one from the car and installed an unspecified electrical system instead.
