“Hyundai N Vision 74: Could This Sports Car Concept Become a Reality?”

Last summer, Hyundai introduced the N Vision 74 sports car concept as a reference to the Pony Coupe concept from the 1970s. It was quiet for a long time, until at the end of May there were rumors that it had a chance for serial production.

Not long after, the brand showed a replica of the Pony Coupe concept with equally futuristic, sharply cut shapes. These could also fit into the current design language of the brand.

However, given the current direction of the brand – and indeed the entire automotive industry – it is unlikely that Hyundai would actually bring such a car, which does not have the potential for high sales figures and therefore high profitability, into production form.

At that time, however, the words of the car company’s spokesman, Derek Joyce, had already been spoken, who completely rejected the possibility of serial production. “We are aware of speculation about possible commercial production of the N Vision 74. However, we have no current plans to put it into production,” he told the site Carscoops.

So it looked like he was going to stick with the 1970s reincarnation of the concept. Now, however, comes more news, from the website of a British magazine Top Gear, which quotes Hyundai chief designer Luc Donckerwolke. And he says that production is not excluded.

“Certainly. We mean it. It could go into mass production. We have the platform,” said Donckerwolke in response to the question of whether a hydrogen-powered sports car could be available to ordinary mortals in the future.

In addition to trucks, Hyundai has a lot of experience with hydrogen propulsion from the Nexo model. In the N Vision 74 concept, a hydrogen fuel cell is combined with a traction battery, so the car is technically a hybrid – it can run on electricity stored in the battery or produced by the reaction of hydrogen with oxygen on water.

Of course, how it will turn out in the end, whether we will actually see a Hyundai coupe with innovative technology on the roads, is up to the stars.
