In order to fulfill its corporate social responsibility, Hyundai Motor Group is carrying out social contribution activities in various fields, including mobility support projects for people with mobility disabilities.
Hyundai Motor Group held a meeting at Kia Vision Square in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province on December 5th last year, with Hyundai Motor Group Vice President Han Yong-bin, Community Chest of Korea Secretary General Hwang In-sik, Korea Association of Disabled Welfare Facilities Chairman Jeong Seok-wang, Korea Spinal Cord Disabled Association Chairman Jeong Jin-wan, and Park Gyeong-soon, Chairman of the Korea Association of Rehabilitation Counselors for the Disabled. , held a ‘delivery ceremony for the mobility support project for the mobility-impaired’ with about 40 officials including Kim Dong-beom, Secretary General of the Korea Federation of Persons with Disabilities, in attendance.

The mobility support project for the mobility-disadvantaged is a social contribution activity that Hyundai Motor Group has been conducting since 2011 to improve the mobility rights of the mobility-disadvantaged. Hyundai Motor Group has donated a variety of mobility devices, including welfare vehicles, bicycles for the disabled, electric scooters for the elderly, and muscle braces, and the cumulative donation amount is approximately 7.9 billion won.
The items supported this time are 24 Ray welfare vehicles, 6 Carnival welfare vehicles, and 105 electric assistive devices (49 electric wheelchairs, 56 electric scooters), worth about 1.2 billion won. In particular, the Ray welfare vehicle and the Carnival welfare vehicle were developed by Easy Move, a social enterprise fostered by Hyundai Motor Group, and have a design optimized for wheelchair users.
Hyundai Motors continues its activities to help children with cancer.
In September last year, Hyundai Motor Company held the 25th anniversary event of ‘Hyundai Hope On Wheels’, a campaign to eradicate childhood cancer, at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, USA.
In his welcoming speech, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun said, “Hyundai Motors is committed to doing the right thing it can for the world, including innovating products and fulfilling corporate social responsibilities under the vision of ‘progress for humanity.’” “Children’s cancer “I want to help create a world free from cancer and give hope to children struggling with disease,” he said.
Hyundai Motor Company, together with its U.S. dealers, established the Hope on Wheels Foundation to help children suffering from childhood cancer, and has been supporting pediatric cancer-related hospitals and research institutes since 1998. The purpose is to contribute to ending childhood cancer by supporting innovative research and treatment for childhood cancer, the leading cause of death among children in the United States. The cumulative donation amount is $225 million.
In October last year, Kia carried out the ‘Welcome Wheel Campaign’ to improve transportation convenience and accessibility for the transportation vulnerable, selected ‘Onsen’, a Tendon specialty store in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, as its first store, and held a handover ceremony for a mobile ramp.
The Welcome Wheel Campaign is a project to supply ultra-light mobile ramps to small stores that are difficult to access for wheelchairs and strollers due to store thresholds, and aims to eliminate barriers to everyday life. In October, a total of 120 mobile ramps were installed in Dongdaemun-gu (27), Eunpyeong-gu (27), Dongjak-gu (27), and welfare centers for the disabled in Seoul (40). Each welfare center plans to provide a paper map of stores participating in the ‘Welcome Wheel Campaign’ with a QR code inserted.
