Hyundai launched a strong electric car offensive in Europe when it first introduced the Ioniq 5, now the Ioniq 6, and is preparing for a spectacular launch of the largest model 7 in 2024. But for ordinary users, these are relatively expensive vehicles with a starting price of around one million crowns. A more affordable electric car is already on the horizon.

In an interview with Automotive News Europe, the head of the marketing department at Hyundai for Europe, Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, stated that the automaker is working on a more affordable electric car that would meet the strictest emission criteria of the European Union.
–
The price of the car will start at around half a million crowns, and the car would have to compete with electric innovations from VW, Škoda and Cupra, which should arrive in 2025.
–
Hofmann admitted that the development of a new small electric car is challenging, because there is not much space for technology under the hood, and with smaller and cheaper electric cars it is also very difficult to make a sufficient profit. This is also why all three expensive models of the Ioniq series were on the market before this model.

Hyundai’s marketing chief stated, among other things, that customers can look forward to eleven new products in the field of electric cars by the end of the decade.
–
During the first half of 2022, electric vehicles accounted for 16% of sales in Europe, a year-on-year increase of 4.7 percent. In addition to electric cars, Hyundai is also one of the few to develop hydrogen-powered cars.
