Jakarta –
Have detikers ever wondered: how much Hyundai Ioniq 5 battery price? Because, it’s no secret, the battery is the most expensive component embedded in an electric vehicle.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has two battery capacities, namely 58 Kwh for the standard range variant and 72.6 Kwh for the long range. According to Hyundai, the price of the two components differs by IDR 100 million.
“The price of a standard Hyundai Ioniq 5 battery is around IDR 300 million, for the long range it is around IDR 400 million,” said Fajar Ahya, Assembly Processing Engineer at PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) when met in Cikarang, West Java, Monday ( 2/10).

It is known that the standard version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 battery with a capacity of 58 Kwh is capable of making the vehicle travel up to 350 kilometers. Meanwhile, long range batteries with a capacity of 72.6 Kwh can reach 480 kilometers. However, the numbers can differ, depending on driving style and use of vehicle features.
Meanwhile, Bonar Pakpahan as Product Expert at PT Hyundai Motor Indonesia (HMID) reminded that battery health can decrease with use. That’s why he asked electric car users to be more disciplined when charging. For example, he said, don’t wait until the power completely runs out.
“Don’t wait for the battery to be at zero percent before charging, if possible it will be at 20 percent. Because this habit can cause the battery to degrade (decrease in capacity). If it is used poorly, the battery life will also decrease,” he said.

Furthermore, according to Bonar, using fast charging too often is also not good for vehicles. He suggested that electric car owners should prioritize a regular charging system which is more ‘friendly’ to the battery.
For the record, Hyundai has collaborated with LG Energy Solution to build a battery factory with an investment of US$ 1.1 billion or Rp. 17 trillion. Apart from that, they have also invested US$ 60 million or Rp. 929 billion for the development of Hyundai Energy Indonesia (HEI) as a battery system manufacturer.
