Hyundai i20: Elegant and Technologically Rich Urban Hatchback for the Czech Market

The car will arrive on the Czech market during the third quarter of this year.

The Hyundai brand boasted an updated i20 model, which is trying to attract customers with an elegant appearance and even richer technological equipment. At the same time, the changes are relatively decent – both in the exterior and interior.

The rejuvenated urban hatchback boasts modified front bumper and radiator grille shapes, which should make it look more elegant and sporty. At the back, we see a newly designed bumper and a unique design of lights in the shape of the letter Z. The range of wheels has also been expanded, where we can find new discs with a diameter of 16 and 17 inches.

The range of colors has been expanded by three new shades – metallic Lucid Lime and pearly Lumen Gray and Meta Blue. There will be a total of 8 lacquers on offer, and the contrasting roof lacquer in the Phantom Black pearl color remains available as an option.

The interior can now offer lime decorations, which should revive the atmosphere. The seats of the car with this interior will also receive new sporty upholstery with dotted lines. The sporty character should also be enhanced by the lime stitching on the places that the crew often comes into contact with.

The new model comes standard with a color 4.2″ LCD display in the instrument panel, a USB-C charging port, the second generation of the eCall system (works with 4G networks) and wireless OTA map updates.

Optionally, the car will also be available with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch multimedia system display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The equipment also includes a wireless charger or the Bluelink telematics system.

The automaker has also replaced all interior light bulbs with LED lighting, and the equipment includes up to 64 color combinations of ambient lighting. An optional Bose premium audio system will also be available.

The car will now offer more Hyundai Smart Sense safety systems in the basic equipment. FCA’s autonomous emergency braking system has modes for driving in the city (“City”) and outside the city (“Interurban”). In addition to pedestrians, it is also able to detect cyclists. The LFA’s Active Lane Keeping Assist ensures that the vehicle stays in its lane.

Other safety systems will be available as an option, such as warning of passing vehicles when backing up, active assistant to avoid a collision with vehicles in the blind spot, NSSC cruise control and others. Under the hood, there will be a 1.0 T-GDI engine in combination with a 48V mild-hybrid, tuned for 100 or 120 horsepower. Previously, only the more powerful version of the T-GDI engine was equipped with a mild-hybrid system, and the offer also included the four-cylinder 1.2i (62 kW).

The transmission of power to the wheels will be provided by a six-speed intelligent iMT mechanical transmission and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Regarding the iMT transmission, we can remind you that after releasing the gas pedal, it can disconnect the engine from the transmission, whereby the vehicle goes into sailing mode.

Production of the new Hyundai i20 will begin in the third quarter of 2023 in Izmit, Turkey. Sales on the Czech market will begin on the same date, the first cars should arrive not long after.
