“As we expected, last year was still marked by the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, unlike in 2020, there was no decline in demand for our products. On the contrary, thanks to a completely innovated product line with state-of-the-art electric and hybrid vehicles, interest in our vehicles has exceeded our production capabilities, “said HMMC President Cheolseung Baek.

“However, I am proud that, thanks to the enormous efforts of our employees and close cooperation with suppliers, we have been able to meet the plan and produce 275,000 vehicles. While many carmakers produced even less last year than in 2020, our company managed to increase production by 15 percent. We have thus helped to significantly increase Hyundai’s market share in the European market, “said the President.

At the beginning of last year, the company completed a complete overhaul of its product line. “Already, more than one third of the cars produced at HMMC have hybrid, plug-in hybrid or pure electric drive, and we are fully prepared to further increase this share,” said the president.

The carmaker expects further production growth this year. “Europe and the Middle East remain the main markets, most cars went to Germany last year,” the company said. Last year, cars from Nošovice were exported to more than 70 countries.

In addition to passenger cars, Nošovice also produces two types of six-speed manual transmissions. They are used not only for cars that are produced there, but are also exported to the HAOS plant in Turkey, to the plant in St. Petersburg, Russia, and to Slovakia to Kia’s sister plant in Žilina.

“From 2022, gearboxes at HMMC will no longer be produced for the Russian plant,” the company said.

The factory in Nošovice is the only Hyundai production plant in the European Union. The plant has over 3100 employees, another about 8700 people work for its direct suppliers.
