According to Hyundai Energy Solutions on the 7th, the double-sided solar solution for soundproof tunnels developed this time has improved power generation efficiency by more than 30% compared to the existing single-sided type, and the solar module is manufactured as an integrated type that not only generates power but also plays a soundproof role, so installation cost is also reduced. It can be greatly reduced. In addition, a double-sided photovoltaic solution for soundproof walls with improved power generation efficiency by 30% was also developed.
Hyundai Energy Solutions, as the leading agency of the national project of’Development of technology for commercialization of double-sided photovoltaic modules (p-type)’, has been carrying out tasks with domestic companies and research institutes since 2018.In May of last year, a total of 85kW in the Eumseong factory in Chungbuk A large-scale demonstration facility was installed, and the performance evaluation was recently completed successfully.
If this solution is applied to about 19,000 km of highways and general national roads where soundproof tunnels and soundproof walls are easily installed out of about 110,000 km of total domestic roads (according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport), electricity can be supplied to 3 million households at the same time. 11GW of electric power is possible.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Energy Solutions has been carrying out a 24MW-class roof-type solar power generation project at the driving test site of Hyundai Motors Ulsan plant since 2019, and is developing various solar power application solutions such as farming type and integrated building type.
