Hyundai and Kia Recall 91,000 Vehicles in the US for Fire Hazards

Reuters reported that Hyundai and Kia said they were recalling 91,000 new vehicles in the United States due to fire hazards.

The recall targets the 2023-2024 Hyundai Palisade, the 2023 Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, and Kona, the 2023-2024 Seltos, and the 2023 Kia Soul and Sportage.

Hyundai and Kia explained the reason for the recall, saying that the ISG oil pump’s electric controller, which is a system that automatically stops the engine when the vehicle stops, may contain damaged electronic parts, which can cause overheating.

The companies said their dealers would check for problems and replace the electric oil pump controller if necessary, and asked owners of affected vehicles to park outdoors until repairs were made.
