Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced on the 23rd that they have developed the first stepless swing & sliding door technology that can efficiently use the loading space of chassis-cab vehicles.
This technology, independently developed by Hyundai Motors and Kia, is designed to open and close the door on the side of the chassis cap loading box in both swing and sliding ways, so users can load and unload items in a convenient way according to their needs.
Currently, most of the side doors of the loading box of small trucks available on the market are provided only by pushing on both sides, so the rear door had to be used to unload objects of a certain size.
In addition, the side door is structurally moved to the inside of the loading space due to the front and rear steps, resulting in a loss of internal space as much as the thickness of the door. ‘Step-less swing & sliding door technology’ focuses on maximizing customer convenience by overcoming these limitations.
It has the advantage of being able to open the two side doors by sliding or swinging as needed, so that you can use the swing door when loading or unloading large items while using the sliding door.
In particular, the sliding method minimizes the loss of internal space by applying a mechanism in which the door that opens like the side door of the Kia Carnival moves to the outside of the fixed door. In addition, thanks to the application of flat front and rear doors without steps, watertightness has also been greatly improved.
Hyundai Motors and Kia applied hinges for swing function and guide rails for sliding function to the side of the loading box at the same time to realize this technology.
When the swing handle is raised, the fastening between the guide rail and the door is released, allowing the door to be opened and closed. When the sliding handle is pulled while the swing handle is level, the fastened part of the swing hinge is released and the door opens along the guide rail. way.
If ‘stepless swing & sliding door technology’ is commercialized, it will not only greatly improve the convenience of drivers operating logistics delivery vehicles, but it can also be used in various ways such as Purpose Built Vehicles (PBVs) to be released in the future. It is expected that there will be
An official from Hyundai Motors and Kia said, “The chassis cap loading box door opening and closing technology unveiled this time is a next-generation technology that will enable more convenient delivery services by reflecting the opinions and demands of logistics delivery drivers.” We will do our best to provide better value to our customers.”
On the other hand, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia recently completed patent applications for ‘stepless swing and sliding door technology’, and plan to review mass production after durability and performance tests.
