The most anticipated Zelda game at the moment is probably the sequel to Breath of the Wild, but now Nintendo has at least announced another, new title that takes place in the Zelda universe – Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
The game will be released for the Nintendo Switch already on November 20 this year. You can see a trailer at the top of the article, and a longer presentation video of the game can be seen at the bottom.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is strictly a sequel to Hyrule Warriors from 2014, but Nintendo is more concerned with marketing the game as a predecessor to Breath of the Wild.
Takes place 100 years earlier
The game takes place 100 years before the story of Breath of the Wild and gives the player the opportunity to experience the apocalyptic events depicted in that game. As with the first Hyrule Warriors game, Tecmo Koei is behind it, but this time the developers have worked closely with Nintendo’s Zelda team.
As before, you can play as Link and Zelda, among others, and the game is about fighting your way through hordes of enemies to protect Hyrule from doom.
According to Nintendo, the goal is for the game to appeal to both Hyrule Warriors fans and Breath of the Wild fans. Whether this will succeed remains to be seen, and the first Hyrule Warriors was rewarded with lukewarm 5 out of 10 points here on Gamer.no.
Otherwise, Nintendo acknowledges that the audience is eagerly awaiting more news about the Breath of the Wild sequel. In this connection, Zelda boss Eiji Aonuma took the opportunity to inform us that the Zelda team is working hard to make the game world even more impressive than in the first game, and that we will have to wait a little longer for new updates.
