VCA Amstetten NÖ struggled to win at home and moved up to second place in the table
The VCA Amstetten NÖ celebrated a 3-1 home win in the 10th round of the Austrian Volley League Men against VBC TLC Weiz on Saturday evening. Andrej Urnaut’s team improved to second place in the table behind the still undefeated leader of the Hypo Tirol Volleyballteam.
However, after 25-23, 26-28, 25-19 and 25-18 there was no good mood in the Mostviertel. “I don’t want to say anything about the game, just that I congratulate Weiz on a great performance,” explained VCA sporting director Michael Henschke. Because the guests from Styria came to Amstetten with weak substitutes, so the disappointment with their own performance overtook the lower Austrians.
“That’s three points. But that’s really the only good thing about tonight. We didn’t get into the game from the start and we didn’t perform well on the pitch,” said VCA captain Dimitri Sidoropoulis. For a long time, his team trailed in the first round, but managed to overturn the set in the deciding round. Shortly after, however, the recovery tactic no longer worked and the Styrians managed to equalize with 26-28.
In the end, however, Lower Austria secured the mandatory victory with 25-19 and 25-18 and three points, which lifted them to second place in the table. Before Christmas there is still a league game waiting for the VCA, which they have to survive against Ried/Innkreis away. “I expect a different performance and the team knows it,” Henschke looked on.

After the ninth success of the season, the STEELVOLLEYS are now two ahead points. “The visitors were very compact, made almost no mistakes and impressively showed that they are the league leaders. We were able to keep pace at the start, but then the pressure became too much. You have to admit that Linz -Steg is currently a class better than us” PSVBG coach Ulrich Sernow said.
STEELVOLLEYS coach Facundo Morando: “We had the game under control and we managed to immediately stop any attempt by Salzburg to get close.” And on the situation in the table: “Obviously the result in Vienna helps us a lot. Luckily it didn’t happen. Now we benefit ourselves “.
