Hypertension is the most common cause of people failing to be vaccinated against Covid-19

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said, from the results of the Ministry of Health’s monitoring, many people with hypertension failed to get the Covid-19 vaccine. In fact, said Budi, hypertension is a disease that is easy to detect.

“We just realized that most Indonesians fail to be vaccinated because of hypertension. This disease should be easy to detect and if it is known quickly, the service is cheap and standard,” said Budi at the event. Declaration to Accelerate Vaccination of Pregnant Women in Indonesia virtually, Thursday (19/8).

Meanwhile, people with hypertension can still get vaccinated if their blood pressure is below 180/110 MmHg. These blood measurements were taken before the participants arrived at the screening table.

Budi also said that one of the causes of death in pregnant women during childbirth is hypertension followed by bleeding. Therefore, said Budi, his party intervened to reduce the mortality rate of pregnant women during childbirth by installing ultrasonography (USG) in all health centers.

“I just realized that ultrasounds are generally available in big hospitals, but not for puskesmas in rural areas so that having these tools will really help us observe the condition of the baby while it is still in the womb, so it will reduce the risk of bleeding at the time of delivery,” he said. ” said the Minister of Health.

Budi also thanked all the doctors who had helped give birth during the pandemic.
