As pointed out by the Ministry of Health, inspections will take place throughout the country. The date was decided at Monday’s meeting of the chief hygienist Pavla Svrčinová with the director of the regional hygiene services.

“The inspection is planned throughout the Czech Republic on 4 and 6 November. We cannot provide you with further details at this time,” said Martina Čovbanová from the Ministry’s press department.

The chief hygienist spoke about the inspections on Friday. “Just as the police control the safety of traffic, so would compliance with the measures take place throughout the Czech Republic,” she said.

According to a recent statement, Svrčinová has carried out about 45,000 inspections of compliance with emergency measures since the spring. Today, the chief hygienist was also to appeal to the regional directors to give the hygienists higher fines for violating extraordinary measures.

Already on Friday, Svrčinová said that the amount of fines is set well in the Misdemeanor Act, but not all regional hygienic stations are used to imposing higher fines.

The topic of today’s meeting was also the unification of the procedure for ordering quarantines. In the past, some regional hygienists ordered quarantine by calling people. However, according to the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court from the end of August, they can only do so by a proper decision. People affected by quarantine should therefore be given a written decision.

The epidemic is growing
One of the reasons for greater emphasis on control measures is the increasing rate of coronavirus spread in the Czech Republic. On Sunday, there were 787 cases of covid-19 in the Czech Republic, which is the highest Sunday increase since the end of April. Compared to the previous Sunday, there were 451 more new cases, so the increase in the number of infected people more than doubled.

The number of hospitalized with covid-19 is also growing. Compared to last week, it increased by about a third to 463 people on Sunday. Of these, 86 are in serious condition, which is two-fifths more than the previous Sunday. According to the State Institute of Public Health, the delta variant and its subvariants dominate among the positive samples for coronavirus.

Like the number of seriously ill, the number of deaths of people with covid-19 is increasing. According to the ministry, 44 patients have died in the last seven days, compared to 26 in the previous week. At the same time, even in the first half of September, the number of deaths per week was only in the order of units.
