Control operation in Hérault

On July 11, government services conducted a large-scale inspection operation in the Hérault department. Several administrations were mobilized to guarantee the safety and protection of consumers. The departmental directorate for the protection of populations (DDPP), URSSAF, the gendarmerie and the departmental directorate of public finances worked together during this mission. In total, 20 inspections were carried out, allowing several infractions to be noted in different businesses.

Rigorous controls

To ensure the security and transparency of transactions, rigorous checks were carried out in the municipalities of La Salvetat-sur-Agout, Olargues and Mons-la-Trivalle. In La Salvetat-sur-Agout, the agents inspected several locations, such as the fairground market, the covered markets, the town centre and the areas around Lake Raviège. They focused on various traders, including wine sellers, fruit and vegetable stands, meat and fish producers, water sports equipment rental companies and car garages.

The operation was mainly aimed at identifying and sanctioning false claims and misleading presentations that could mislead consumers. The checks revealed several violations, such as failures to display the origin of fruits and vegetables, hygiene problems, shortcomings regarding personal protective equipment, irregularities in car garages, etc.

Warnings and further investigations

In total, 11 warnings were sent to the traders concerned. In addition, URSSAF services initiated additional investigations with two establishments to verify the regularity of their situation.

In conclusion, this control operation has made it possible to call several businesses to order and to highlight violations related to the security and transparency of transactions. State services will continue to ensure consumer protection and the fight against fraudulent practices.
