A great week awaits the French in Hyères who will try to repeat their fine performance in Palma. Hyères Olympic Week has been one of the world’s largest Olympic sailing gatherings for more than 50 years.

For the French team, this is the home meeting not to be missed to win a maximum of medals. All of the 10 series represented at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be present on the Hyèrois lake, from April 23 to 30, 2022.
The French are eagerly awaited in Hyères a few weeks after the Trofeo Princesa Sofía where they brilliantly marked the spirits with no less than 6 medals including 3 gold for Théo de Ramecourt (Kitefoil), Hélène Noesmoen (IQfoil) and the duo Erwan Fischer / Clement Pequin (49er). With 23 athletes present, the French team is aiming for podiums in almost all series.
Absent from Palma, the IQfoil windsurfing champions, Pierre Le Coq, Nicolas and Thomas Goyard, will participate in their first international competition of the year, with in particular the reigning world champion Nicolas Goyard, at the head of a delegation already very sharp.

Philippe Mourniac, director of the French team: “The Hyères Olympic week is a major event on an international level. This is the important meeting ahead of the European and World Championships which will take place in the coming months. The entire international platform is gaining momentum to achieve its objectives. In addition, we play at home, it’s a bit like the Roland-Garros of sailing: we want to shine at home! First nation during the World Cup stage in Palma a few weeks ago, the French showed that they could perform and grab podiums in all series. We have a magnificent French team that many nations envy us! »

The ten series, already in the running for Paris 2024, are well and truly committed to offering high-flying international regattas on this body of water that they know well. While the entire French team regularly races on the Var coast, which is as beautiful as it is technical, kitesurfers Lauriane Nolot, Axel Mazella and Théo De Ramecourt train in Hyères all year round. The brothers Nicolas and Thomas Goyard, IQFoil champions, recently settled in the small seaside town to benefit from the best training conditions a few kilometers from the future Marseille Olympic site. Jean-Baptiste Bernaz (Laser), originally from Sainte-Maxime, is also a regular on the body of water.
Lauriane Nolot (Kitesurf), from Hyèroise: “This is the first time that kitesurfers are going to take part in the French Olympic week. It’s great to have everyone at home! I have always sailed here with my parents, and now with the whole of the French Kitesurfing team because our training center is here. It’s a great spot with generally quite a bit of wind. In Palma I came a hair’s breadth from the gold medal, I’m not going to let it pass at home. I’m super motivated! »
