Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe

In addition to the exhibition, the Hydrogen Technology Conference will also take place at the Hamburg trade fair, bringing together an international expert audience of over 300 speakers and 1,500 participants from industry, the energy sector and other sectors. Numerous Hamburg institutions and companies present themselves at the trade fair and show research approaches and application examples for hydrogen technologies. A total of around 15,000 visitors are expected in Hamburg for the trade fair. The trade fair complements Hamburg’s positioning:

Dr. Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Economics and Innovation: “While fossil fuels will still play an important role at the moment, hydrogen will become important in the industrial context in the future – because it will make energy from renewable sources transportable. Hamburg is Germany’s hydrogen capital! This is where future large quantities of imported hydrogen will arrive at the port by ship, where important pipelines will intersect in the future, where the know-how in the field of renewable energies has been available for years and, above all, Hamburg, as a large industrial location, is an important customer. With the inclusion of the Hamburg hydrogen industrial network in the German core network, which was also announced today, we are further developing Hamburg into the hydrogen hub for Germany.”

In addition to the production of hydrogen, fuel cell production and energy producers, pipeline operators, the automotive industry as well as manufacturers of industrial and commercial vehicles, the heavy and basic materials industry, steel production, petrochemicals and logistics are also represented at the trade fair.

The event is taking place in Hamburg for the first time this year. It will also be held here in the coming years, then on three days from October 21, 2025.

Dr. Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Economics and Innovation: “The Hydrogen Technology Expo strengthens Hamburg’s profile and our location in an international comparison. The exchange and networking will help connect suppliers and demand for hydrogen in the industry. I am therefore very pleased that the event will take place at Messe Hamburg in the future. A warm welcome to all exhibitors and visitors to Hamburg!”
