HV71’s Henrik Borgström is punished for diving

HV71 fell heavily against Skellefteå during Saturday.
Now comes the next blow for Henrik Borgström, who is punished after a reinforcement late in the meeting.

Perhaps in a last-ditch effort to gain an advantage to turn the game around, Henrik Borgström’s skates flew off the ice early in the third period. Skellefteå’s Elias Salomonsson got two minutes for cross-checking, but TV4’s Sanny Lindström questioned the whole thing.

– Salomonsson puts the club in his back, but it is so loose. He feels the club is there… it’s almost like he’s looking for it, the expert said on the broadcast.

During Sunday morning, the HV71 forward ended up on the disciplinary board’s table and now the decision has come. Borgström is fined SEK 5,000.

“Elias Salomonsson cross-checks Borgström in the back, who then lifts both his skates into the air at the same time and falls to the ice. Borgström gets an expulsion. Through the film sequence, the committee finds it established that Henrik Borgström was guilty of Diving/Embellishment in the manner stated in the report. The offense is of such a nature that it should lead to punishment in the form of a moderate fine,” the decision states.

Borgström himself has refrained from speaking to the committee.
