When HV71 was to face Kristianstad last Friday, they had eleven straight victories and only one loss throughout the season. Then they lost two straight games against Kristianstaad and came to the home match against Mora with a sprained squad and confidence.
It was still HV who would take the lead in the first period when Jesper Kokkonen got the puck, his only second goal of the season.
After Kokkonen’s early lead goal, it was HV who pressed to extend the lead but no goal came. Neither the remainder of the first period nor the second period, which was clearly Moras.
In the third period, Mora received a draw through junior Filip Björkman who scored his first goal in the Hockey Allsvenskan. When HV then picked up two expulsions within a short time, Mora was able to take advantage of the numerical superiority and take the lead through Johan Persson.
The home team tried to press for a draw and took out the goalkeeper in search of a goal. Instead, Jesper Kokkonen went on an expulsion for goalkeeper interference. HV still took out the goalkeeper again but then Mora was able to puncture the match through Robin Johansson.
HV71’s third straight loss was a fact and now Modo is only two points behind but with one match more played.
