Hütter wants to get rid of the Bayern curse

After the spectacle in the DFB Cup, where Borussia Mönchengladbach beat FC Bayern Munich 5-0 out of the tournament, everyday life in the Bundesliga continues. The past has already shown that it is sometimes difficult to maintain the level after beating the record champions. Trainer Adi Hütter in particular can tell a thing or two about it.

In the 2019/20 season, Hütter’s team from Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Bayern 5-1 once. Like the Austrian fussball.news-Demand reminds, “back then we scored relatively few points until the winter break”. More precisely, the first three subsequent league games were lost. A total of seven times in a row could not be won.

Hütter and the curse of Bavaria

This Bayern curse did not occur for the only time in Frankfurt. Last season, when Hütter defeated the record champions 2-1 with the SGE, there was a 2-1 defeat in Bremen plus two draws against Stuttgart and Leipzig. Again three games without a win! And this season, too, Eintracht is going through this phase: After a 2-1 win against Munich, they recently suffered two defeats against Hertha and Bochum.

Mandatory victory against Bochum!

But the 51-year-old now wants to leave this phenomenon behind. “That was Frankfurt, now we have to talk about Borussia Mönchengladbach,” demanded Hütter. For the upcoming home game against VfL Bochum, the foal coach wishes: “We have to take this momentum with us. We can and want to win this game.” He would almost like to speak of a mandatory win: “We want to move forward in the league, so we have to beat Bochum at home!”
