Husky Football Cadet Falls Short in Championship Game

The Husky football cadet from the Jean-du-Nord/Manikoutai school in Sept-Îles will have to wait for his first championship. In a real trench war against the Falcons of the Porte-du-Nord school in Chibougamau, he admitted defeat 14 to 0 in the final of the RSEQ Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean League (cadet D3).

“The guys were smiling. They won second place. We have to give credit to the other team,” said head coach Jean-Pierre Lord, despite the disappointment of the defeat.

In an excellent defensive duel, the Husky saw the Falcons deliver the final blow with a second touchdown in the final moments of the game.

“It was trench warfare. Our defensive coordinator, Dominic Chouinard, did a good job,” praised Coach Lord.

The coaching staff says they are proud of the cadet season, a season of emotion and learning.

“We have built something solid with these young people. »

Jean-Pierre Lord and his acolytes also say they are pampered by the support of parents, present in large numbers for the final played in Jonquière.

The two Husky football teams will benefit from a few months of rest before returning to training, after the March break in preparation for the Quebec Jamboree in May, the end-of-year treat. In the meantime, the organization will hold its Gala on December 13.
