An Afghan cuts his wife’s throat in Berlin. Day 7 of Pankow’s femicide trial.
Zohra (31) dies on April 29, 2022: 13 stab wounds, throat cut on the street. Gul A. (42) faces life imprisonment. The independent lifestyle of the mother of six offended him, according to the indictment.

investigator: “The blood on your shoes and clothes is probably your wife’s. A witness stood by and took pictures. Are you still saying you didn’t kill your wife?”

► Gul A.: “So if the blood is his, I accept it. Otherwise not.”
investigator: “Can I have the photos?”
► Gul A.: “Yes, show him. One question: is my wife dead now? Show me the picture!” (stares at her) “Yes, I did. She forced me. I wanted to see the children. She ignored it. I told her to meet and talk. She was afraid I would kill her. But I reassured her: I won’t hurt you. I met her on the street. She said: you can’t do anything. I said you’re making me do it. She said: Why don’t you leave Germany? After that I did this to her.
investigator: “Why did you have the big knife with you?”
► Gul A.: “You said you hired two people to kill me. I bought the knife for defense. I thought that if I was going to be killed, I wanted to kill you before the others killed me. For three and a half years I organized with great difficulty escaping with the children, she did nothing. Here in Germany she found a boy, kicked me out of the house and hired two people to kill me. That’s what she told me in the park: you don’t want to divorce me, I’ve hired two people who will kill you.”
