A source from the Panruti Women’s Police Station said Madhan, 31, a daily laborer from LR Palayam in Panruti married Rani, 21, in 2018. The couple has a two-year-old son.

Madhan is addicted to liquor, and lockdown COVID-19 cost him a decent income over the past year.
Madhan borrowed money several times from his two friends, Sundaramorthy, 25, and Manikandan, 25, from the village of V Andikuppam.
Since he couldn’t pay his debt, he offered his two friends to have sex with his wife instead.
In December 2020, police sources said, Madhan gave his wife a pill saying it was a vitamin tablet. Rani fell unconscious after drinking it.
Madhan then calls Sundaramorthy to his house and lets him rape Rani. When the victim regains consciousness, he realizes what happened and scolds Madhan.

A few days later, police said, Madhan brought Manikandan home when both were drunk. Manikandan then rapes Rani who is sleeping. The victim wakes up startled, and screams at Manikandan, who then runs away.
The victim then attacked Madhan with firewood.
The victim eventually took her son to move into his mother’s house after the incident. However, Madhan regularly visits him and asks him to “cooperate” with his friends.
On Monday, the victim filed a complaint against her husband and two friends at the Panruti Women’s Police Station.
Quotes New Indian Express, Wednesday (9/6/2021), a case was registered and the three men were arrested. After an investigation, they were brought before judge Panruti on Tuesday and detained at Cuddalore Central Prison.
