KOMPAS.com – Dedy was forced to leave the body of his wife, Indah Kusaeni (30) for a while in a boarding house in the Panggreman neighborhood, Kelurahan / Kecamatan Kranggan, Kota Mojokerto, for trying to find an ambulance and a loan for funeral expenses.
Damayanti, Dedy’s boarding house neighbor, said that Indah was found dead by Dedy when she came home from work on Sunday (14/3/2021) afternoon.
Indah died from a lymph node disease that she had suffered for a long time.
“He died yesterday, but his body to this day is still in the boarding house in a condition that has been washed and carried,” said Damayanti as quoted from Antara. Tribunjatim, Tuesday (16/3/2021).
Damayanti said that Indah’s body had not been buried because she was waiting for Dedy, who was busy looking for an ambulance.
“If he died at around 15.00 WIB yesterday and was taken to Gatoel Hospital at 16.00 WIB, then the body was taken to the funeral home (boarding house) Monday (15/3/2021) at around 01.00 WIB,” he explained.
After that, the husband went out to find the location of his wife’s burial at around 02.00 WIB and returned at 09.00 WIB.
However, Dedy went out again looking for an ambulance to deliver his wife’s body to the funeral.
The residents finally contacted the police because the husband did not return to the boarding house until 11.00 WIB.
“Pity he died, but the body was not buried immediately even though it had been almost 24 hours abandoned in the boarding house,” said Damayanti.
The victim’s husband finally arrived a few hours after the police and also potential volunteers with PMI Mojokerto City arrived at the location.
“I apologize for the trouble, I am still preparing the grave and it was finished earlier from the hospital I want to ask for help from the ambulance to transport my wife’s body,” said Dedy.
Dedy did not intend to abandon his wife’s body in the boarding house. At that time, he asked the owner of the boarding house and neighbors to look after his wife’s body.
He was distracted by himself preparing the funeral and the hearse.
“Alhamdulilah, here I got free ambulance assistance from PMI and I’m very grateful because I wanted to ask for help at the hospital. He said he was still waiting for confirmation. Not to mention if it is being used,” he said.
Dedy admitted that he did not have enough money for his wife’s funeral costs, let alone pay for an ambulance.
“I do not have money for hospital fees so I am looking for loans. This is not yet finished, including for the grave area because I have to buy it,” he explained.
Kapolsek Pra Soldier Kulon, Police Commissioner M Sulkan explained, from the results of the examination, the cause of Indah’s death was due to illness.
There are no signs of violence on Indah’s body. This is also confirmed by the statement of the hospital.
Indah’s body was moved from the boarding house to the PMI Mojokerto City ambulance to be buried at the Long Cemetery (TPU) of the long grave in Gedeg District, Mojokerto Regency.
“The cause of the death of the victim is natural. From the hospital statement there are also no signs of violence and the victim is suffering from lymph node disease,” said Sulkan.
