Christina Ricci asked a judge in Los Angeles for a restraining order for her husband on Wednesday, the American entertainment site reports TMZ. The actress filed for divorce from James Heerdegen in June, who was already given a temporary restraining order.
According to Ricci, who broke through with the film when she was ten Mermaids (1990), her marriage to Heerdegen turned violent at the end of 2019. He is said to have hit her in multiple attacks, spat at her, dragged her around the house and thrown coffee at her.
In court papers, held by TMZ, the 40-year-old actress states that in a number of cases the six-year-old son of the couple, Freddie, has seen the abuse.
She also demands that her soon-to-be ex be banned from disclosing certain video and audio recordings. She would fear he would try to blackmail her by threatening to leak the recordings.
Heerdegen’s lawyers deny the abuse and let the entertainment site know that he is working on legal action against Ricci, who they say is the one who shows aggressive behavior because of “the use of drugs and alcohol”. Nevertheless, the judge granted the restraining order for Heerdegen on Wednesday. He has to keep a hundred yards away from Ricci, Freddie and the family’s dog for now.
