Hurtigruten CEO Daniel Skjeldam earned 1.6 million euros, equivalent to 15.6 million kroner in 2021.
It appears from the company’s annual report.
Skjeldam received NOK 6 million in salary, and around NOK 7.8 million in bonuses. The annual report states that Skjeldam has a bonus agreement with the board – led by board chairman Trygve Hegnar – which is linked to an operating profit before depreciation and losses (the ebitda result) in the company.
The report states that the bonus was earned in 2019.
The total amount of NOK 15.6 million includes pension savings and other benefits for the top manager.
The annual report also states that the entire board has waived the board fee for 2021.

The five other people in the group management had a total payment last year of 2.1 million euros, corresponding to 20.4 million kroner.
Crisis with corona
The Hurtigruten had difficult times under the corona and had to cancel and for long periods put all its ships in port. At the same time, 3,000 employees were laid off overnight.
In the summer of 2020, several passengers and crew on board Hurtigruten’s MS Roald Amundsen became corona infected, and the shipping company received harsh criticism for handling the infection. It also ended with police investigation and million fine.
“Despite the fact that the ship had several pieces of information that suggested infection on board, they failed to put in place infection control measures, notify passengers, crew or public authorities about this,” the police wrote in the fine.
In a longer interview with DN earlier this month, Skjeldam said about the enormous pressure from employees, customers, the press and the police. He says it was the toughest thing he has been through, but that he never considered retiring.
As the annual report shows, Skjeldam was rewarded for standing in the storm.(Terms)Copyright Dagens Næringsliv AS and / or our suppliers.
