Hurricanes: Frederik Andersen to move up tests

The Carolina Hurricanes are keeping their fingers crossed as they await the results of a magnetic resonance imaging test that goaltender Frederik Andersen will take after injuring his knee on Saturday.

That’s what The Athletic website reported on Sunday.

Andersen left the team’s game against the Colorado Avalanche in the third period after losing his footing following a trip. He had given up seven goals on 33 shots at that time.

Andersen is playing his first campaign with the Hurricanes and the results are conclusive. He has a 35-14-3 record, a 2.17 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage in 52 games.

His loss could therefore be painful for the Canes, who have already secured their ticket to the playoffs and who are currently fighting for the first place in the Metropolitan Division with the New York Rangers.

Rod Brind’Amour’s squad will be in Arizona on Monday to face the Coyotes.
