At 05:00 hours it was located about 555 km northeast of the leeward islands and about 1,325 km south-southeast of the Bermuda Islands, whose meteorological service has issued a surveillance of tropical storm.
This is the first alert for land since the seventh hurricane of 2020, which has category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale (out of a maximum of 5) and has traveled over the Atlantic for days slowly and away from land.
A surveillance of storm tropical means that conditions are possible tropical storm within the surveillance area, generally within 48 hours.
In the trajectory predicted, “Sam” will continue to pass away from the northern part of the leeward islands, which are part of the Lesser Antilles, and on Saturday far northeast of Bermuda. According to the forecasts, he will not touch them.
The NHC expects a turn to the north on Friday night and then to the northeast beginning Saturday.
