MEXICO CITY (AP) – Pamela was moving inland into northwestern Mexico on Wednesday after hitting north of the port of Mazatlán as a hurricane.
The storm hit the coast 65 kilometers (40 miles) north of the tourist destination.
Civil Protection authorities of the state of Sinaloa reported that the winds and rains caused by Pamela caused little damage in Mazatlán.
According to the noon report from the US National Hurricane Center, Pamela had winds of 100 kilometers per hour (65 miles) while moving overland. The meteor is moving northeast at 37 km / h (23 mph).
Pamela is expected to continue to weaken as it traverses northern Mexico and is expected to be near the Texas border as a tropical depression by Wednesday night or Thursday. The remnants of the hurricane could dump heavy rains in central Texas and southeastern Oklahoma, the center said.
