Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that he is in constant touch with the governments of the eastern coastal states of the country regarding cyclone ‘Michong’.

PM Modi also urged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to join the relief and rescue efforts and help the local administration. During his address on the election victory at the BJP headquarters, the Prime Minister said, ‘Cyclone ‘Michong’ can affect the eastern coastal areas. The central government is in constant touch with the state governments and is helping them. He said, ‘I urge BJP workers in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Odisha and especially Andhra Pradesh to join the relief and rescue operations and help the local administration.’

He said he could not monitor the election results as he was busy monitoring the cyclone situation on the east coast of the country. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Spoke to Jagan Mohan Reddy and assured him of all possible help.

He also directed top officials to ensure that all possible help is provided to the state. India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal transformed into cyclonic storm ‘Michong’ on Sunday.

It will move northwards and move parallel to the South Andhra Pradesh coast and cross the South Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Machilipatnam on December 5 in the forenoon. Due to this cyclonic storm, wind can blow at a speed of 80-90 kilometers per hour up to 110 kilometers per hour.
