Weather: Hurricane Iota is a CATEGORY 5 MONSTER, now threatens Central America with EXCEPTIONAL PHENOMENA

Hurricane Iota en route to Central AmericaThe tropical storm IOTA, the thirtieth of this numerically record-breaking season for the Atlantic Ocean (we are at 30 storms) in the last few hours has intensified quickly, reaching mass hurricane category 5 and now it’s threatening theCentral America.

The super depression system is currently located in Carribean Sea
and it is feared that with the passing of the hours it could intensify even more, even becoming a hurricane type “major“.
According to National Hurricane Center, Iota will follow more or less the same trajectory traced by Eta just a few days ago and, for this reason, again catastrophic consequences are expected for Nicaragua e Honduras which are still on their knees, devastated by the force of the winds and torrential rains caused by the last hurricane, also responsible for the deaths of more than a hundred people.

What is expected? Iota it is slowly moving west at a speed of about 15 km / h and in his gait he gains more and more energy: just in the evening of Monday 16 November his is awaited landfall on the east coast of Honduras and Nicaragua. The storm presents twenty on average about 260 km / h with gusts even higher. Serious problems also exist for torrential rains that could reach, once they reached the mainland, accumulations included between 500 e 600mm. The worst is feared for many areas.

To worry most is thestorm wave which could raise the sea level by about 3/4 meters on the exposed coastal area and literally overwhelm everything it will face: especially the countries in the immediate hinterland at risk.
Given the situation the Alert Committee of the Secretariat for National Risk Management and Contingencies (Kopec) launched a ‘red alert‘for all areas where the impact is expected, asking the population to evacuate the areas at risk and find shelter in more resistant structures located inland and further west.
