Hurricane Delta devastated Louisiana, show drone footage

The hurricane brought with it heavy rainfall, in some places it rained up to 40 centimeters of water. On Saturday night, Delta weakened from level two to the lowest level of the five-point hurricane scale and then to a tropical storm.

As the drone footage released by Reuters shows, the hurricane left behind destroyed houses, roads and power poles. Wildlife has also been expelled from its natural habitat, said State Governor John Bel Edwards. He called on fellow citizens to be vigilant.

This year’s hurricane season over the Atlantic is exceptionally busy – so many cyclones have formed over the ocean that meteorologists have come up with pre-prepared names, so they had to resort to naming storms according to the Greek alphabet.

Delta is the 25th named storm of this year’s hurricane season and the tenth to hit the mainland United States, breaking the record of nine hurricanes in 1916. Louisiana is the fourth hurricane or tropical storm this year, the AP agency reported.
