Hurling coach Jimmy Meagher has been found guilty of fraudulently taking €41,000 from a close friend whom he convinced to invest in a non-existent sliotar business. Meagher, who serves as an assistant coach on the Kilkenny minor hurling team and was part of this year’s All-Ireland club championship winning Ballyhale Shamrocks coaching team, has caused irreparable damage to their friendship and the local GAA community. The victim, referred to as “John”, expressed his anger, regret and disappointment in his victim impact statement, stating that he finds it extremely difficult to discuss the events of the past few years.
