Hunter Biden, the son of the US president, will deny in court that he is guilty of the charges against him. He was recently charged with criminal offenses related to gun law violations five years ago.

A special prosecutor filed three charges against him last week. Joe Biden’s 53-year-old son allegedly did not declare that he was drug addicted when he bought a gun in 2018, which is against the law. He could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the three charges, although the sentences for these offenses are usually lower.

At the time Hunter Biden purchased the revolver in question, he was struggling with drug addiction after the death of his brother Beau. He allegedly had it in his possession illegally for 11 days after a period in a rehab clinic. His brother’s widow later found it in his car and threw it away because she was afraid he would harm himself with it.

Previously, it seemed that Hunter Biden would make a deal with the justice department to avoid prosecution, but that agreement did not last. The judge found the conditions unclear.

In the letter to the judge in which Biden’s lawyer writes about Biden’s intention to plead his innocence, the judge is further asked whether his client may attend the upcoming hearing online. He would like to prevent his transport from his home state of California to the state of Delaware from costing the American government a lot of money and manpower, as he is heavily secured.

“Mr. Biden will plead his innocence and there is no reason why he cannot say those two words via video link,” his lawyer wrote in the letter. Prosecutors in the case previously objected to a similar request in the case.
