Klaas-Jan Huntelaar wants to follow a trainer course after he has stopped at the end of this season, although his plans are not really concrete yet. The 37-year-old striker announced on Saturday after Ajax’s 4-0 victory over PEC Zwolle that he is going to put an end to his career.
“I don’t know exactly what I will do when I have stopped. I do think that I will get my training papers, but I do not know if I will do that immediately”, Huntelaar said on Saturday at the press conference of Ajax after the win at PEC in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
The 76-time international spoke internally at Ajax about the possibilities after his long career, in which he played for clubs such as Real Madrid, AC Milan and Schalke 04 and made almost 250 league hits at the highest level. He returned to Ajax in 2017 and extended his contract three times for one year.
“I’ve talked about it more often with Marc Overmars (director of football affairs, ed.), Because I could have quit earlier. It was then about running within the club and looking at certain things. That will find a way. want to stay connected to Ajax. “

‘It’s almost final’
Huntelaar took the decision to quit in recent weeks, but he had not intended to announce it after the win over PEC, in which he scored his 150th Eredivisie goal. It happened spontaneously then FOX Sportsreporter Hans Kraay Jr. asked about his future. “Yes, I’m going to stop,” said Huntelaar.
At the press conference he then gave a small blow to the arm. “It is almost definitive. You can see it in Arjen Robben, who also likes to play football and still went on for another year. Football is the best there is and you can only stop once.”
Huntelaar emphasized that he still enjoys training and playing. “I always enjoy being on the field and know what my role is here at Ajax. That is all good, even though I am 37 years old and I start to feel it every now and then during the training sessions. I think that’s why it is finished after this season. “
