In the match which was held at the Ferenc Puskas stadium, Saturday (4/6/2022) evening WIB, England played a 3-4-3 formation with James Justin at the left-back position and Jarrod Bowen as the right winger.
Both made their debut for England. Harry Kane is still relied on in attack to be able to bang on the Hungarian defense. However, England had difficulty dismantling the host defense.
England were even threatened in the third minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold lost the ball to Rolland Salai. Entering the penalty box, Salai shot but Pickford could brush it off.
A minute later England responded through Kane to continue Mason Mount’s pass. Outwit Willy Orban, Kane kicked the ball though it was wide.
England had two chances in the ninth and 11th minutes through Bowen, which were all countered by the back row and Gulasci.
Hungary almost scored in the 12th minute if the ball that Pickford failed to hit wasn’t quickly cleared by Conor Coady on the goal line. Hungary and England exchanged attacks but until the first half ended, the score remained 0-0.
Entered in the second half, Bukayo Saka was entered to replace the injured James Justin. The entry of Saka is expected to increase the pounding power but England are still having trouble penetrating the Hongari defense escorted by Willy Orban,
England, who were preoccupied with attacking, conceded in the 64th minute when Reece James, who had just come on for Trent, fouled Zsolt Nagy in a duel in the penalty area. The referee pointed to the spot and Dominik Szoboszlai coolly put the ball into the left corner, beyond Pickford’s reach.
