Hungary Threatens Veto on Bulgaria’s Schengen Entry Over Russian Gas Fees

Hungary has threatened Bulgaria with a veto on Sofia’s entry into Europe’s Schengen zone. In particular, if Bulgaria will not cancel transit fees for Russian gas.

A group of European countries that have agreed not to check the passports of people crossing borders between them. This means that people can travel freely within the Schengen area without any problems. Currently, the Schengen zone includes 27 countries.

Yesterday it became known that the Netherlands gave the green light for Bulgaria to join the Schengen zone. At the same time, Austria remains an opponent of the decision.
