Eight male and twelve female competitors will represent Hungary at the European Short Course Swimming Championships to be held in Bucharest between December 5 and 10.
According to the press release of the domestic association (MÚSZ) on Saturday, the presidency approved the proposal of national team captain Csaba Sós on the final day of the short track national championship taking place in Debrecen. Olympic A-level players, junior European champions, and those who fulfilled the qualification level set by the captain – i.e. the time of the eighths of the 2021 short-track European Championship – could be included in the team.

According to the announcement, Csaba Sós originally named more than 20 swimmers in his proposal, but several indicated that they did not wish to participate in the continental competition. Kristóf Rasovszky and Dávid Betlehem are preparing for the Open Water World Cup in Madeira, which will take place immediately before the European Championships in Bucharest, and Rasovszky will also have his university final exam in December.
Zalán Sárkány prefers to participate in long-distance competitions, because he has a chance to reach the Olympic A-level in several distances. For the same reason, Dalma Sebestyén and Viktória Mihályvári-Farkas will miss the EC, while Boglárka Kapás has not yet decided, but it is possible that she will travel to Bucharest only for the 400 medley.
According to the announcement of MÚSZ, the team can be expanded if one of those not included in the roster fulfills the European mission level in Saturday’s final.
