BUDAPEST – Prime Minister (PM) Hungary Viktor Orban said the United States (US) wanted war in Ukraine continued and failed to explain why to NATO allies.
According to him, if he wanted, Washington could actually stop the fighting in a short time because Kyiv is completely dependent on the West in the war against Russia.
The Hungarian leader was interviewed by Kossuth Radio on Friday (14/7/2023) morning after returning from the NATO Summit in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius.
During the summit, the US-led military bloc refused to extend its membership roadmap to Kyiv.
Hungary stands out among the alliance’s members by consistently criticizing Western policies on the Ukraine crisis.
“If America wants it, peace will come the next morning. Why Americans don’t want it is a question that is puzzling the whole world,” Orban said.
“We didn’t get an answer at the NATO summit,” he said.
“At this point, Ukraine has lost real sovereignty,” Orban said, referring to Kyiv’s shattered economy and high dependence on Western allies for funding and arms.
