BUDAPEST – Prime Minister Hungary Victor Orban, calls for a new strategy to end the war in Ukraine . According to him, only direct negotiations between Russia and United States of America (USA) that can bring peace.

“Because Russia wants security guarantees, this war can only be ended with peace talks between Russia and America,” Orban said in his speech. New York PostSunday (24/7/2022).

On the 150th day of fighting following Vladimir Putin’s invasion on February 24, Orban argued that a Ukrainian military victory was impossible, “simply simply because the Russian army had asymmetrical dominance.”

He also said Western sanctions failed to contain Russian aggression and worse triggered a spike in energy prices that put Europe on the verge of recession and caused several governments on the continent, including Italy and Britain, to collapse “like dominoes.”

“We were sitting in a car with four punctured tires,” Orban said. “It is very clear that the war cannot be won this way,” he added.

The Hungarian leader reiterated that his country – which is a member of NATO – will not engage in war.

Orban, whose landlocked country gets more than 60% of its oil from Russia, has blocked EU sanctions that would have halted all Russian energy sales to Europe.

Earlier, Orban warned that the Russia-Ukraine conflict could end Western dominance and shift the balance of power in the world.

Orban argues that the decision to impose sanctions on Moscow and supply Kiev with heavy weapons de facto turned European Union (EU) and NATO member states into participants in the conflict, but in the end it was fruitless.
